PUNE: The Malhotra Weikfield Foundation has organised its sixth scholarship award function on September 30 at 4.30 pm at the Symbiosis Educational Complex in Vimannagar. Every year, the foundation awards over 20 scholarships of Rs 10,000 for graduation courses and 20 scholarships of Rs 20,000 for post-graduation courses in pure sciences such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology and astrophysics.

This year, around 110 scholarships are being awarded to scholars from various disciplines. Most of the students are from rural back-grounds from villages around Pune, Kolhapur, Miraj, Sangli and Satara. The scholarships are awarded to students on merit who come from economically weaker sections and majority of the scholarships are given to girls.

The mentors come from successful backgrounds and have continuous interaction with the scholars to ensure their holistic growth other than merely from academic area.

Eminent scientists R A Mashelkar will hand over the scholarships to the students. Vandana Chavan, MP, will be the chief guest on the occasion. S B Mujumdar, founder and chairman of the Symbiosis Educational Institute and scientists Vijay Bhatkar will share their thoughts and ideas to motivate students during the function.
